Vocal teacher charged with sexually assaulting a child

FLEMINGTON - Steven Snow, 58, of Hampton, was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a child, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III announced Friday.

Snow is a tenor who offers voice lessons to those age 13 and older. He is also listed on the New Jersey National Association of Teachers of Singing website as a member and a former voice teacher at three colleges, according to the association and his LinkedIn page.
Snow was charged with one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact and one count of fourth-degree child abuse on Thursday, Kearns said.
An investigation by detectives from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit and the Clinton Township Police Department revealed the victim was under 18 years old and Snow had supervisory power over the victim, according to Kearns. The prosecutor's office did not state where the assault took place.
Snow was a voice instructor at DeSales University from 2012-2016, a voice teacher at Muhlenburg College from 2010-2015 and Caldwell College from 2008-2010. He runs Steven Snow Music, LLC and is a co-founder of Hunterdon Vocal Works.
Although Snow is listed on the New Jersey National Association of Teachers of Singing website as president of the group, Sean McCarther, governor of the association, said on Friday that Snow has not served as president "for about a year and a half" and is no longer an officer. McCarther said he was unaware of snow's arrest.
He is the third Hunterdon County resident to be arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a minor this week. The prosecutor's office announced on Thursday the arrest of Daniel Veselko, 50, of Holland Township, after an investigation into a reported sexual assault of a child over a three-year period, according to the prosecutor's office.
On Wednesday, Mario Chacon, 42, of High Bridge, was also arrested on sexual assault charges. The victim was under the age of 16, the prosecutor's office said.
Chacon, a member of the High Bridge Emergency Squad, is currently suspended from the department, Kearns previously said.
Snow's arrest was jointly announced by Kearns, III, Chief of Detectives John J. Kuczynski and Clinton Township Police Officer in Charge Lt. Doug Higgins.
