CHILD RAPISTS 77

VICTORVILLE — Although 36-year-old Barstow resident Christopher Michael Manzanares was arrested yesterday for lewd acts on a child, apparently the story goes back at least ten years.
The now 14-year-old female victim told her mother that while Manzanares was living them as her mother’s boyfriend, he began  years of inappropriate sexual behavior that started when she was 4 years old.
Her testimony states that Manzanares threatened to harm her and her mother if she told anyone of this activity.
The suspect was arrested on March 6th and is being held on a $1.5 million bond. Detectives believe there may be additional victims.
The SBCSD released this statement – “Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact Detective Dana Weinberg at the Victorville Police Department at (760) 241-2911. Continuous Sexual Abuse of Child Ends with Arrest March 7, 2017 Christopher Michael Manzanares

Mark Smith was given a life sentence on Friday (March 3) after being convicted of a string of sexual offences against children dating back more than 30 years.

The 41-year-old, of Philadelphia Lane, pleaded guilty to a catalogue of crimes, spanning four decades and dating back to the 1980s.

He pleaded guilty to a total of 29 counts including rape, indecent assault, indecency with a child, sexual assault and possession of an indecent image of a child.
Today, an NSPCC spokesperson said: “Smith’s victims showed immense courage in speaking out. This case shows once again that all survivors of abuse must be listened to and supported should they come forward and seek justice for what happened to them, no matter how long ago it took place.
Smith is a dangerous predator and the extent of his vile crimes over 30 years is truly shocking. He will rightly spend a long time behind bars for his sustained campaign of horrific abuse against children.
“It is vitally important that he undergoes treatment in prison so that he is hopefully not a danger to any child ever again.”
Smith appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Friday and was sentenced to life imprisonment and ordered to serve a minimum of 16 years.
He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
The offences took place in North Yorkshire and Norwich between 1985 and 2015 and involved six victims, all under the age of 14.
• Any victims of non-recent abuse or anyone concerned about a child can call the NSPCC’s helpline on 0808 800 5000. Children can call Childline anytime on 0800 1111.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — A minister and former police officer has been arrested after investigators said he admitted to molesting an underage family member nearly 17 years ago, the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office said.
James Charles Patrick, 45, was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and taken into custody Friday.
On Feb. 27, the Texas Department of Public Safety learned Patrick sexually assaulted a family member in 2000. The victim, who was 10 years old at the time of the abuse, claims Patrick is also addicted to pornography.
During a counseling session in 2016, investigators said Patrick admitted to the alleged assault when confronted by the victim’s mother.
Following further investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Patrick’s arrest.
Patrick served as an officer with the Montgomery County Constable’s Office Pct. 2 and the Willis Police Department from December 1996 to October 2001. He was an officer with the Montgomery County Constable’s Office Pct. 1 from October 2002 to March 2012.
Investigators said Patrick left the force 2012 to perform ministry work full time.
During his tenure in law enforcement, Patrick was assigned to the Willis Independent School District as a school resource officer. Investigators are asking anyone with more information or concerns to contact Montgomery County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-7867.

A former martial arts instructor pleads guilty in Worcester County to sexual abuse of a child.
47-ABC reports Zachariah Bennett was in court Tuesday morning and entered a plea on the first day of his scheduled trial.
The 26-year-old Bennett was arrested last year in connection with sexual acts involving a student who was then 13 years old, in a van during a "field trip" to Ocean City.
The state reportedly recommended a 15-year prison sentence, with all but ten served.
The end result would be five years behind bars.
Bennett is scheduled to stand trial in Wicomico County this week on additional charges of child sexual abuse, acts which prosecutors say took place at Mitchell's Martial Arts in Salisbury.
A codefendant, Leah Wright, faces trial in the spring on charges that she acted as a lookout during some of the incidents, and participated in some of the acts as well.

The district chairman of Cannon Ball, the reservation town closest to the pipeline protest camps, faces felony charges of incest and sexual abuse of a minor.
A five-count federal indictment from April accuses Robert Fool Bear Sr. of sexually abusing a young girl sometime from 2009 to 2010 and again in 2015. On one occasion, he also kicked her with his shoe.
Fool Bear, 54, is scheduled for trial at the federal courthouse in Bismarck on April 4. If convicted, he faces a minimum of 30 years in prison.
His attorney, Carey Goetz, said she will make the case at trial that the charges are unfounded.
"We’re going to argue obviously that it didn’t happen. This is a troubled kid who made some allegations that just aren’t true," said Goetz, adding the federal prosecutors' case relies mostly on statements and not on DNA evidence or a confession from Fool Bear.
"He’s a great guy," Goetz said.
Fool Bear was released from jail shortly after the charges were filed last year. He is supervised by a federal pretrial services officer and not allowed to have unsupervised contact with anyone under age 18.
He serves as the district chairman in Cannon Ball community on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation. In that role, he has spoken out to the Tribune and CNN against the Dakota Access Pipeline protesters, who he argued were harming the community, and led several district meetings where a resolution to remove them was passed. Since then, some residents and protesters have criticized the district leadership for the decision, which was made mostly in members-only sessions.
Reached by phone Wednesday morning, Fool Bear declined to comment on the charges and whether they've affected his public role, which he said he has held since 2005.
He was most recently elected in May of 2015, according to the tribe's election office. District chairman elections take place every four years, according to the local statute.
Fool Bear said his focus is on his wife's health and on ensuring the protesters leave Cannon Ball.
"There is nothing to hide," he said.
The charges are attempted aggravated sexual abuse of a child, aggravated sexual abuse of a child, aggravated sexual abuse of a child by force, assault with a dangerous weapon and incest.

CANTON — The Massena man indicted on 53 counts connected to years of child rape and sexual abuse pleaded not guilty Tuesday in St. Lawrence County Court.
Stacey J. LaPorte Jr., 26, of 52 Maple St., Apt. 5, Massena, currently an inmate at Oneida County Jail, was arraigned on charges of three counts of predatory sexual assault against a child and one count of predatory sexual assault, both A-II felonies, 10 counts of first-degree rape, one count of second-degree rape, six counts of third-degree rape, seven counts of first-degree criminal sexual act, seven counts of third-degree criminal sexual act, three counts of first-degree sexual abuse, two counts of attempted first-degree criminal sexual act and five counts of misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.

In addition, LaPorte is charged with a fourth count relating to his exploitation of two children, one born in 2003, the other in 1999, on a specific date in 2016.
During his appearance in St. Lawrence County Court Tuesday, LaPorte was led into the courtroom in shackles by St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Sean P. O’Brian and stood silent as Judge Derek P. Champagne read each of the 53 counts aloud. When asked how he would plead, LaPorte remained silent as his attorney, Assistant Conflict Defender Christopher R. Curley, responded not guilty.
Assistant District Attorney Joshua A. HaberkornHalm said that LaPorte is facing upwards of 100 years for the charges against him, would be a second-felony offender is considered a flight risk, despite his lifelong ties to the county.
LaPorte was returned to the custody of the federal government and is held on the state charges on $500,000 cash or $1 million bond.
The indictment against LaPorte charges that from on or about the summer 2007 to on or about March 6, LaPorte committed the crimes of rape and criminal sexual act with two females. According to the first 33 counts of the indictment, one of the females was victimized from the age of 8 until she was 16. The indictment charges that LaPorte began victimizing a second 15-year-old female during the winter of 2015-16 through last March 6.
Moreover, the indictment charges that on or about Valentine’s Day weekend 2016, LaPorte provided alcohol to a 15-year-old female and a 12-year-old male before making them engage in anal and vaginal sexual intercourse with him and engage in sexual contact with a second 15-year-old female, both by force.

NAMPA — The school district is facing a lawsuit regarding a student who was sexually abused by a former Skyview High School teacher.
The parents of a minor female student filed a lawsuit in December suing the district for damages done by former teacher and Tomas Fisher, the Idaho Statesman reports.
Fisher, 30, was sentenced in March 2016 to three to 11 years in prison for sexual battery of a child ages 16 or 17 years old, which he pleaded guilty to.
The lawsuit alleges that then-Dean of Students Jason Reddy once found Fisher and the victim — before the sexual battery began — in a dark room with the door locked and failed to discipline Fisher and failed to notify the girl’s parents.
The complaint against Fisher claims his battery resulted in emotional distress and loss of enjoyment of life, among other listed forms of medical, mental and physical distress, according to the Idaho Statesman.
The victim's family filed a tort claim against the district last year.

Police: Man sexually abused child March 7, 2017

A man facing charges of child rape in Friendsville, a Knoxville man involved in a police standoff after what officers say was a two-week crime jag and a Maryville resident suspected in a violent home invasion were among those indicted by a Blount County grand jury Monday.
David Lynn Brewer Jr., 50, Vernie Lee Road, Friendsville, was indicted on charges of rape of a child, aggravated sexual battery, and incest, stemming from a series of incidents that happened between January 2014 and February 2016.
According to Blount County Sheriff’s Office reports, Brewer’s victim was a family member, a girl under 13. Reports said the victim’s mother called police after her daughter divulged that Brewer had been sexually abusing her.

COLFAX – A Spokane man was sentenced to up to life in prison for raping a 4-year-old LaCrosse, Washington, boy.
Joshua J. Lewandowski, 36, was sentenced late last week to a minimum prison term of 123 months – or 10 years and 3 months. Whitman County Superior Court Judge Gary Libey included an indeterminate sentence of life in prison, the maximum penalty possible for the Class A felony.
Lewandowski was arrested in November in connection with a sexual assault report at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. The 4-year-old boy’s mother told deputies that Lewandowski had served as baby sitter for the child, who later started acting differently and losing bowel control, according to court documents.
The boy’s mother noticed bruising on his buttocks while bathing him. She asked the child if someone had hurt him, and the boy reportedly said Lewandowski had.
In January, Lewandowski pleaded guilty to the felony charge of first-degree rape of a child as part of a plea agreement that did not reduce the charge against him but did recommend a lesser sentence of 93 months – or 7 years and 8 months – in prison. He has no criminal history, according to court documents.
Under Libey’s sentence, Lewandowski will become eligible for parole after he has served 123 months in prison.
